Pakistan-Singapore Strengthen Business Ties

High Commissioner Rabia Shafiq had a comprehensive discussion with Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry about building stronger business ties between Singapore and Pakistan. They explored ways to collaborate in promoting economic opportunities in Pakistan and how SICCI can play a role in raising awareness about it. Neil Parekh, Chairman SICCI, highlighted that with over 600 member companies, the Chamber is instrumental in connecting Singaporean businesses to South Asian markets.

The High Commissioner briefed on Pakistan’s commitment to facilitate business through the Special Investment Facilitation Council which offers a One Window Operation to expedite approvals and reduce bureaucratic hurdles for investors in four key areas: agriculture, IT, energy & mining. She also highlighted immense opportunities for Singaporean businesses to outsource financial, accounting and IT services to Pakistan at much lower costs than our neighbouring countries.

The High Commissioner invited SICCI members to attend the 2nd ASEAN-Pakistan Business Opportunities Conference in Pakistan in April 2025, describing it as a gateway for Singaporean businesses to expand into Pakistan and Central Aisa.

Pakistan’s strategic location, evolving market and emerging sectors offers significant potential for Singaporean businesses to scale. Engaging with organizations like SICCI is key to bridging connections, facilitating dialogue, and unlocking mutually beneficial opportunities.

Looking forward to future collaboration and strengthening economic ties between our two countries!
