On the occasion of the 'Right to Self-Determination Day' for the people of Jammu & Kashmir, I reaffirm Pakistan's unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support for their just struggle.
Every year, the 5th of January reminds the international community of its solemn commitment made to the Kashmiri people in 1949, through the United Nations Security Council Resolution, that they shall be granted their inalienable right to determine their own future through a free and impartial plebiscite under the auspices of the United Nations.
For more than seven decades, the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have been subjected to unprecedented human rights violations and state-sponsored oppression. Despite these hardships, their resolve for freedom remains steadfast.
Pakistan remains committed to a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant Security Council Resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. We urge the international community to hold India accountable for its actions and to facilitate a just and sustainable solution to this long-standing issue.
May the struggle of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters succeed in securing their fundamental right to self-determination.
